Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Painter to join a manufacturing team in Brooklyn Park, MN. In this role, you will be responsible for cleaning and preparing materials prior to painting, applying primer and topcoat finishes to components and machinery, and ensuring all painted surfaces meet company standards. The ideal candidate will have prior heavy equipment paint processing experience and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
• Prioritize safety every day.
• Sand, mask, wash, paint, and touch up components and machines according to blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Apply primer, topcoat, and electrostatic paint finishes to achieve consistent, high-quality results.
• Electronically and manually maintain labor and production documentation.
• Perform hazardous waste handling tasks related to paint activities.
• Coordinate and prioritize work to meet production schedules.
• Take initiative to identify, document, communicate, and correct paint-related issues; report discrepancies and recommend solutions.
• Work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Work independently with limited supervision.
Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in heavy equipment paint processing, or completion of a paint-related certificate or technical degree.
• Experience applying prime coat, top coat, and electrostatic paint.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints/engineering drawings.
Physical Requirements
• Lift up to 35 lbs frequently.
• Stand and work for 8-hour shifts with minimal breaks.
• Ability to work at multiple heights, including climbing equipment, ladders, and man lifts.
• Ability to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, twist, and work in tight or awkward spaces.
• Repetitive grasping, pushing, pulling, and rotating motions required.
• Fine motor skills for precision paint application and finishing tasks.
• Exposure to paint fumes, catalyst fumes, isopropanol fumes, and wash chemicals.
• Exposure to noise levels of 85db or greater and fluctuating temperatures.
• Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, hoists, and material handling equipment (counterbalance, tug).
• Operate paving products equipment such as compactors, rotary mixers, and pavers.
• Regular use of paint and wash tools including cup paint guns, sanders, buffers, and related equipment.
• Required PPE provided: hearing protection, safety glasses, metatarsal foot gear, respirator, painter hood, Tyvek suit, rain gear, rubber boots, rubber gloves, and full face shield with hood.
