Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team in Charlotte, NC. This position is responsible for operating a variety of manual production equipment, including mills, drills, and lathes, to produce quality metal components that meet customer specifications. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate manual production equipment, including mills, drills, lathes, and other machinery as assigned.
- Load raw materials and perform machine start-ups, shutdowns, lubrication, and routine operating procedures.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments necessary to maintain production quality and efficiency.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance and routine machine upkeep.
- Assemble products using hand tools and powered equipment as required.
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Submit first-piece and last-piece inspections for quality approval.
- Follow work orders, blueprints, specifications, and production instructions accurately.
- Record production data, including quantities produced, time worked, and completed work orders.
- Properly stack, package, and protect finished materials to maintain quality standards.
- Identify and report equipment, tooling, or quality issues to supervisors in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area through routine housekeeping practices.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures including PPE requirements to perform the job safely
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous machine operation experience in a manufacturing or metal processing environment preferred.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to safely operate production machinery.
- Ability to read and follow verbal and written instructions, work orders, and blueprints.
- Experience using precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and measurement conversions.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to adapt to changing production priorities and work effectively in a team environment.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment around moving mechanical equipment.
- Steel-toe footwear and safety glasses required; additional PPE must be worn as required by the operation.
Employment Type & Compensation
- This is a Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire position
- Pay rate is $18.00 per hour
- Application Window: Open until filled
Work Schedule
- 1st Shift | Monday – Friday | 5:00 AM – 1:00 PM
